The 20th Engineers moved to Pleiku as part of the 18th Engineer Brigade in late 1966. The battalion served for a short time as part of the 45th Engineer Group, then was reassigned to the 937th Engineer Group. The unit remained stationed at Pleiku, on Engineer Hill, for nearly the whole war, until its departure for the port of embarkation in 1971.
